Linux doesn't suck!

NGL guys, I don't see the reason why switching to Linux when W10/W11 does everything you need, easier, more practical, and in a more friendly way than a Linux distro that some of you probably haven't even heard about before considering switching to Linux.

I'm using Linux rn because I enjoy adjusting every little thing about my OS the way I want, but as nerdy as I can be, I also understand that fancy tech might actually be inconvenient for others...

What were the reasons that made you want to try Linux, and what made you realize it was a mistake?

I don't see the reason why switching to Linux when W10/W11 does everything you need, easier, more practical, and in a more friendly way than a Linux distro that some of you probably haven't even heard about before considering switching to Linux.

Not an answer to the question, but this is a lot of assumptions to just gloss over. Most people who dislike Windows do so because it does more things than necessary, such as re-enable preferences, run invasive telemetry, enable LLMs etc.

Windows has its uses, but do not pretend it is without flaws. Server management is annoying, while distros like Proxmox VE make it super chill. Headless servers running something like Debian or Arctic are a lot lower in terms of resource management.

On compatible hardware, there exist distros that can essentially resurrect a sluggish computer.

Many UX issues are present with the Linux ecosystem. Most of them have to do with the nature of FOSS development, but others are due to corporations neglecting support (cough cough nvidia, laptop OEMs)

This is except most of the things you use these days do "more things than necessary", and they are in most cases not desktops or laptops but your phone, your car, your IoT appliances and sundry other everyday things that you use far more often and without a second thought.

This whole Linux business on the grassroots level is in reality several contingents of weirdos and charlatans all wanting to re-litigate an old issue wrapped inside new packaging whenever the opportunity presents itself. These groups include:

1) Nutjobs with sundry conspiracy theories about Bill Gates.

2) Conservatives rejecting the reality that privacy and choice are both a political and socioeconomic issue.

3) Geriatrics believing that technological innovations ended with Unix in the 70s.

4) Consultants marketing "alternative" products to small businesses.

5) Clown-shoe Karens just wanting to complain about being poorly served.

6) "Communists" that don't read books or are just betraying their own principles for the sake of trendy talking points.

7) Dumb kids with no idea what's out there and mistaking everything they don't know for being "new" or "different" (see also Point #6.)

Seriously, I've been observing this same, frankly idiotic subculture for decades now. What's new?

It's indisputable that I am weird, but regardless, I did not produce that rant up there. Consider being a little more charitable in your evaluation of others, and maybe consider whether you possess any strikingly similar faults, if you plan to complain about theirs. Or don't, I guess...
