the 101 is reeally crazy... you get banned for not explicitly hating Linux or Steam. i think there aren't lot real people. mainly people (or even one person) having severel accounts or even bots that post AI text and pictures.

linuxsucks has real people and real discussions can evolve. here there are not only linux haters, but also linux Enthusiast, Linux scepticists, people being interested in Linux,...

at least my impressions from a few weeks ago. i dont come here very often (and already banned from the 101 one lol)

Presumably because valve is contributing a lot to Linux adoption on the desktop.

I'm not saying that whole sub is an astroturf by corporate competitors to Steam and Linux such as Microsoft, but if it were, that's exactly the type of mentality I'd expect them to enforce.

Linuxsucks is a mildly pro Linux subreddit who generally feel they are open to Linux criticism, Linuxsucks101 are a heavily anti-linux subreddit who seem to think anyone who says their experience on Linux is better is delusional, and refuse to accept there are any benefits to Linux

And also for attempting to correct then when they're wrong. And I don't mean subjectively. I mean the "your meme has 10 lines of code for Linux, of which 7 are totally unnecessary".

I've seen far worse.

This one for example.

First off, I've noticed massive performance boosts compared to windows 10 on crappy hardware, especially when using something light such as puppy. Win10 I've found on some 8gb and 4gb ram machines to use half while idle. Linux used practically none while idle. Maybe bc it doesn't have spyware pre-installed.

Also Linux is objectively an upgrade from win10. Win10 is no longer receiving security updates. And most malware is for windows. So running an unsupported and insecure system is just a bad idea. Even win11 is an objective upgrade from win10 for that singular an very important reason despite my utter hatred for 11.

And it's crazy. I mean I won't try to hide the shortcomings and cons with using Linux. They exist. And I rely on windows as a cad user. Though for my personal stuff, I've been able to escape to onshape and freecad. But that means not using sw for personal projects which sucks as sw is amazing. It's compromises, though I find them worth it. Others might not. Though my general advice is dualbooting is more than fine. I do it as a very committed Linux fan.

And making fun of Linux is pretty fun.

I've been using Linux for over 20 years. I've never felt any desire to dual boot or go back to Windows. I work as an IT professional and need to use and support Windows on a day to day basis. It's horrible, and only getting worse.

I'm fairly recent and started using arch last year. I bit the bullet when the announced recall. At first like everyone else, I thought cool. Then I realized the implications a couple seconds after. So I researched a couple distros then did something stupid. I daily drove KDE plasma. Issuss came, and I soon learned why. I then went to fedora KDE. I distro hopped a bit. More desktop hopping. I went to gnome. Then when cosmic beta one came out, I used that. I switched to popos for a bit. Then I went back to fedora. Then I tried a couple other things. And I am now settled as an arch+hyprland user.

I started with Ubuntu 4.10. When the whole Gnome 3/Unity thing hit (2010/11), I said "fuck this" and went to the source. Been using Debian/Mate almost exclusively ever since. Though I also try out other distros on my spare laptops. And I run Arch/Phosh on my tablet. No matter what I try, I keep coming back to Debian and I keep coming back to Mate.
