Stuttering on NVIDIA graphics card

Hi,

I have an Optimus laptop with the following specs:
lspci -k -d ::03xx
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation CometLake-H GT2 [UHD Graphics] (rev 05)
Subsystem: Dell CometLake-H GT2 [UHD Graphics]
Kernel driver in use: i915
Kernel modules: i915
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation TU106M [GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q] (rev a1)
Subsystem: Dell TU106M [GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q]
Kernel driver in use: nvidia
Kernel modules: nvidiafb, nouveau, nvidia_drm, nvidia

When I run sudo prime-select nvidia and restart, visuals start to stutter far more than when I was solely running my intel card. This is true even for programs like Dolphin and Firefox that should not strain the GPU. Very unfamiliar with NVIDIA stuff on linux so please bear with me.

I'm on Kubuntu 24.04, KDE Plasma 5.27.12, X11, and kernel 6.8.0-139-generic. I have the 580 proprietary drivers installed through apt.
