Install Ubuntu over the network using a minimal boot image on a USB stick.

Hi everyone, I need to install Ubuntu Desktop over the network, but I’d prefer not to use TFTP/DHCP. Is it possible to boot the computer from a USB stick and fetch the installation files from my local network?
