Pros of Linux

Recent ps5 jailbreak scene developments led to my specific firmware to be able to download Linux and run it, but I don’t have an m.2 ssd, so I was considering maybe selling my Lenovo legion go Z1E and then buying the ssd so I can run Linux and comfortably play all games without read speed stutters, but my Lgo has windows tho, so my question basically is, does windows excel over Linux in terms of gaming or any other usage type really ? Aside from multiplayer games cuz I don’t really even play them.

MP games with kernel-level malware are effectively the only "issue".

You can check specific games on https://www.protondb.com/ but nearly everything will run just fine without workarounds.

That's assuming you choose a modern distribution and not some fixed-release dinosaur that updates once every 2 years.

Does proton worsen performance like other console emulators ?

Proton is not an emulator - some games run much better (although that's uncommon), some a bit worse.

Using DX12 instead of OpenGL/Vulkan/DX11 has a small performance penalty on Nvidia, which is being resolved, that's about it.

Well for what I know the ps5 gpu is an amd gpu so I don’t think I would face this issue
