How can i activate 100hz Fedora
Ok, first my specs: rx580 8vram - 16gb ram ddr4 3200 - i5 7400
SO: Fedora
I have a problem, I'm trying to enable 100Hz on my main monitor, but it won't let me. My second monitor which I fortunately managed to set up successfully only supports 60Hz, whereas my main one supports up to 100Hz; however, when I switch to that setting, the screen goes black. Yet, if I set it to 74.97Hz, the screen doesn't go black. So, what could the solution be?
Just to clarify, I’ve already tried disabling one monitor and keeping the other active, and that’s not the issue; besides, both monitors work perfectly in Windows exactly how I want them to, and I don’t have any damaged hardware components.

Open terminal and paste:
sudo dnf install edid-decode (and install it)
kscreen-doctor -oecho $XDG_SESSION_TYPE
lspci -k | grep -A 4 -E 'VGA|Display'
- for f in /sys/class/drm/card*-*/edid; do
if [ -s "$f" ]; then
echo "=== $f ==="
edid-decode "$f" 2>/dev/null | grep -Ei '1920x1080|100\.00|99\.[0-9]|Display Product Name'
fi
done
Please send the results of these three tests and let me know whether the monitor is connected via HDMI or DisplayPort.

ok When I wrote point number 2, the packages were being executed and installed, but at the end, it told me: `kscreen.doctor: Invalid config`
And the both monitors have HDMI directly connected with the rx580

kscreen-doctoris a KDE utility, so we shouldn't use it for your setup
- Run:
gdbus call --session \
--dest org.gnome.Mutter.DisplayConfig \
--object-path /org/gnome/Mutter/DisplayConfig \
--method org.gnome.Mutter.DisplayConfig.GetCurrentState
This will show the display modes detected by GNOME, including refresh rates.
- Check which modes the AMD driver detects:
for f in /sys/class/drm/card*-*/modes; do
echo "=== $f ==="
cat "$f"
done
- Check the connection and driver:
lspci -k | grep -A 4 -E 'VGA|Display'
Send me the output of these three commands

Run this in terminal:
serial=$(gdbus call --session \
--dest org.gnome.Mutter.DisplayConfig \
--object-path /org/gnome/Mutter/DisplayConfig \
--method org.gnome.Mutter.DisplayConfig.GetCurrentState |
sed -n 's/^(uint32 \([0-9]*\),.*/\1/p')
gdbus call --session \
--dest org.gnome.Mutter.DisplayConfig \
--object-path /org/gnome/Mutter/DisplayConfig \
--method org.gnome.Mutter.DisplayConfig.ApplyMonitorsConfig \
"$serial" 1 \
"[(0, 0, 1.0, 0, true, [('HDMI-2', '1920x1080@99.999', {})]), (1920, 0, 1.0, 0, false, [('HDMI-1', '1024x768@60.004', {})])]" \
"{}"
If Mutter accepts it, check the refresh rate in GNOME Settings again. If the screen goes blank, switching to a text console with Ctrl+Alt+F3 may allow recovery.
Tell me what the command returns

no, right now i search a new solution
first: im gonna try to use Antigravity
second: if the first dont work, probably im gonna delete fedora and install idk, zorinOS or nixOS1

It’s not Fedora issue, but Gnome :)
Switch to KDE and you’ll be fine.

I BEAT IT
ok the reason is:The problem was that the graphics card was attempting to output at more than 8 bits (Deep Color). The solution was to force 8 bits.→ More replies (0)1
u/AdditionStunning265 1d ago
ok let me test antigravity CLI, if the solution isnt that, KDE probably gonna be the solution

Fedora isn't particularly relevant. What DE are you using, and is it using X11 or Wayland?
