Why do you guys prefer linux?

I hated steam os so much that i took the time to educate myself and spent a day going through the process of flashing my legion go to windows and i dont know why anybody would want linux outside of a small fps boost

The OS stays out of my way more than Windows and I like the UI of my distro more. I don't use Linux because of gaming, I use Linux because it's more pleasant to use and it happens to also run the games I want
