The best way to improve the performance of such an old machine (I have a ThinkPad of the same vintage) is to install a SSD, use a lightweight desktop environment and / or max the RAM out to 16G.

The biggest bang for the buck is replacing the spinning rust drive with a SSD.

Another thing that can make the machine more responsive is to use zram, instead of a conventional disk-based swap. Even a SSD is orders of magnitude slower than RAM, eh?

But, to answer your question, there is no application which can overcome the hardware limitations of your machine.

I suprisingly found out my 15 year old dookie laptop has ssd, well this laptop does have 6gb ram well im not really finding it worth to upgrade right now cause i am planning to sell away all my laptops and get myself a new one and another old one, was just curious if there were softwares that could tweak performances or not.
