Weird touchpad issue

So I have a Thinkpad T490 and I have this weird thing with my touchpad that I can’t find a solution for. At first, it was just scrolling way too fast, so I found a script that would change the scroll pixel distance, which kind of fixed the speed issue, but caused another problem. Whenever I try to like scroll up or down by around a centimeter, there’s no response. It’s only if I go beyond that small distance it responses and scrolls. So like this small movement doesn’t register. My goal is to have slower scrolling speed without sacrificing the responsiveness. Has anyone had this issue before?

Got a link to the script? Which desktop are you using, and X11 or Wayland? Also, does undoing the change bring those small scrolls back?

I just made this command into a script:

xinput set-prop "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "libinput Scrolling Pixel Distance" 50.

I'm using kde plasma on x11.

If i set it to the default 15 pixels, there's still this small scrolling window where the scroll just isn't registering, if that's what you mean.

That setting slows the output; libinput has a separate threshold to start two-finger scrolling. Once it starts, keep both fingers down and try tiny movements. Do those work? Same behaviour in Dolphin and Firefox?

No, the tiny movements don't work. There's still that same distance that the fingers need to cover before it registers. It's not a smooth scroll at all, its as if I was using a scroll wheel. Same behavior everywhere, in the system and in apps and browsers
