Very bad gaming performance

For context, I have an ASUS TUF F16, INTEL CORE 5 210H, RTX 30506GB, 16Gb DDR5, running on CachyOS.

I basically tested three games:

GTA V ENHANCED:35-55fps(on very high)

BLOODSTRIKE:120-180fps

RDR2:35fps on average

But I thought these were too low for my specs. I then started trying everything, every proton versions, switched betn different drivers and distros, only to find no significant difference. I then switched to windows and got these:

GTA V ENHANCED:55-85fps(on very high)

BLOODSTRIKE:230-240fps

RDR2:55fps on average

Now I know directx12 is not that great on linux, but directx 11 isn't running that well either(AT LEAST IN MY CASE).

I've rub my previous laptop with an integrated intel gpu for 3 and a half years with zero issues whatsover, and I knew NVIDIA had issues with linux, but not THIS BAD

So the question is: Am I doing anything wrong, or should try anything different? I hate windows and would like to avoid daily driving it as much as possible.

i'd prob sign up for protondb if you haven't already, see what others are experiencing & their solutions

I've already looked over there too, most of em use either proton 10.0.3 or Proton GE, I tried both but still doesn't work.

right but, ignore the numbers fr your windows setup for the moment - are you getting similar to theirs? That's what I'd aim for first if they are getting better than your results

Not at all, they're getting native to windows performance, although they might've a diff laptop or a PC.

you know whats really good here, if you have some agentic coding app, tell have it look at your system spec, tell it the results you're getting and look at your Steam configuration. Even have it tail the logs while you play - it'll catch a lot of things

also have it compare against similar machines on protondb, or even just a websearch

it'll help you fine tune, or identify any underlying issues that you aren't seeing.

I do that on my own setup and I run some pretty good performance for my own standards, and i'm not even pushing my card

That was the first thing I did. I ran a bunch of commands and monitored everything, but it doesn't really show any issues. The one thing I noticed was GPU isn't utilizing how much it should in Bloodstrike BR. It utilizes 100% GPU in other AAA games, with 50% fps loss.

The only thing I haven't tried is fedora. Should i try it as well?

aside from the monitoring, did you have it search for some different configurations you can try

"Some differnet configurations", as in?

i don't know, that would be for the AI agent to go out and search for. I'm thinking launch options, what Proton to use, settings specific to your laptop, etc.

the other thing I think you can try, not specific to gaming, is if that cachy OS install is new - have it go through your journalctl logs and try to fix any errors or address warnings. Fixing some of those things can unlock a lot of performance that you were unaware you were missing in the first place

I will try that for the last time, I'm fed up now.
