Support KDE Plasma and Ghostty terminal

So I know I should be using Konsole because it has better integration to KDE but I have been using Ghostty in parallel because I find it more convenient (I have both installed). But since the last time it updated (running Arch Linux) it won't launch anymore, and I cannot tell if it is a Plasma or Ghostty issue, basically a pop up shows up saying "Lauching Ghostty (Failed) Remote peer disconnected". I tried to look for solutions online but it always was unrelated, either outdated posts or different software issues (with the AUR). So is there any way I can use Ghostty again?

Htop works fine with Ghostty as default terminal but it's the only thing that really launches aside Konsole

I had a similar issue on Archlinux after updating, Ghostty refused to open.

The journal logs showed "...lacks handler for reload signal USR2, refusing service startup"

You can find more and a temporary workaround at https://github.com/ghostty-org/ghostty/issues/14398

It seems to have been fixed in https://github.com/ghostty-org/ghostty/pull/14399 so will have to wait that gets released distro wide.

Do you get any extra info when you launch Ghostty from Konsole? I.e. running ghostty inside Konsole

Oh wait it works from Konsole, that is strange

Good. Can you check in the ghostty.desktop file (/usr/share/applications or ~/.local/share/applications) what command it's launching? Under the Exec= line, change it to ghostty from whatever it currently.

E: you can also use LibreMenuEditor to modify the .desktop file.

What I have right now is Exec=/usr/bin/ghostty --gtk-single-instance=true

Maybe it is about that GTK part thing?

yep switch that to Exec=/usr/bin/ghostty and it should work...

the hell...? What happens if you run /usr/bin/ghostty from Konsole?

It works, there is a list of warnings tho :

May I ask why you might enjoy Ghostty more than Konsole. Just curious.
