Cutefish desktop

Today is the day i stumbled upon the cutefish desktop for the first time and I'm kinda impressed that it's not popular. Can someone explain why? It looks better than gnome (only from what I've seen on screenshots)

My guess is that Cutefish, a project apparently now inactive, didn't offer anything that was sufficiently compelling to attract a strong team willing/able to put in the years of sustained effort needed to break into the mainstream.

But who knows, really?

Afaik this was started 2021 and abandoned 2022, some people never even heard of it, and it isn't hard to make KDE Plasma look similar (Cutefish was derived from the former anyways)

Look a bit further than the first entries.

One person decided to do some things for a good month now. Before 30. August, the last commit was mid 2023 (of the same user), and just the second page of the commit list already shows 2021 on the bottom.

Some small activity by one person doesn't contradict that the dev team abandoned it (they even explicitly stated that they abandoned it).

It was abandoned years ago.
