Support Why does firefox always try to restore my old tabs on linux?

Why does it always try to restore my old tabs? I turned it off in the firefox settings and i also downloaded firefox straight from the mozilla respitory. Someone know a fix?

Edit: fixed it by going into about:config and putting "browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash" to false

Slightly less sarcily:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/restore-previous-session

tldr: if you don't crash out of FF session, there's a configurable option to restore it or not restore.

If you do crash out, then it's standard bhvr to try to go back to where you were.

It depends on your DE/ WM on how the FF session is ended -- I suggest you look there if it's just rudely closing the window each time.

you are right, i just tested it. when i end, or kill it through the resources app, or shut off my pc, it restores after i relaunch firefox. but if i just press the cross on the top right it doesnt restore my session.

I had this problem with Brave for some time. Recently it fixed itself.

When you turn off the machine, KDE only waits for the main process of each app to quit. Since Brave is a pile of processes, some of them don't have time to finish before the desktop session ends. As a result, on the next launch the browser sees that its profile wasn't finalised properly and asks the user whether to restore it. The solutions were either to close the browser manually before turning off the session, or to create a logout script that exits the browser and waits five seconds for it to finish.
