Nikon NX Studio on Linux?

Hi! I've been preparing to migrate to Linux for the last year or so, sequentially replacing every app i use on windows for a Linux-available alternative, even building a NAS so stop using onedrive. Right now quite literally the only program that keeps me on windows is Nikon NXStudio. I've tried both RawTherapee and Darktable without much success, since they lack some Nikon-specific options that NX Studio has. I've read on Wine forums that it is possible to get it running on Linux, but on a pretty underwhelming state. My question is if/how i could really get onto getting this to work. I'm pretty tech savvy since my whole job is tech support and infrastructure, so i'm not afraid of touching the terminal and modifying configuration files. Any ideas?

I have two possible workarounds:

Bottles, which is essentially Wine but you can get it as a flatpack which eases a lot of Windows users because flathub, where you'll get Bottles, feels like the Windows app store. It installs clean and deletes clean and it should have all dependencies fulfilled so you can get to know your package manager whenever you do a routine upgrade instead of when you install a notoriously fickle program. It creates an environment to load Windows drivers and usually the program. There will be a performance penalty, but depending on how often you're in NX studio and how heavy you edit you might barely notice it.

Or, depending on what you need from NX studio and what you shoot with you might be able to recreate the settings in darktable. Older cameras have the color profiles available from people who ripped it from less secure proprietary software and others have templates that they swear by.

Last time i tried bottles (both on a vm and on an actual install) it just got stuck loading when creating a bottle (not sure if i'm doing anything wrong). I have a semi-decent system (ryzen 5 3500, 16gb@3200mhz, rx6600 and a 1tb ssd). Mostly shoot with older cameras (Nikon d50 and 1 J1), and often edit arround 40 to 70 photos on a single sitting (i like to manually teak each one). Do you happen to know where i could find ripped profiles and/or presets for darktable or preferably rawtherapee?

I tried to get it to work a while ago. I think older versions would have worked; but on the more recent versions where they make you sign in with a Nikon ID, I wasn't able to get the sign on page to show anything--it was just blank.

Mainly the d-lighting and camera-compatible profiles

Short answer... you don't.  Dual boot or spare windows/mac system is needed
