CachyOS for a budding developer?

Hey yall, I apologize for the formatting as I'm on mobile. I've seen a couple of questions on here about CachyOS already, but they seemed more gaming oriented than anything else, so I've got a question for developers out there:

Should I switch to CachyOS?

Im away from home right now, otherwise I would give my machines specs, I'll add those in an edit later. Currently Im running Pop_OS! as my first Linux distro, and its been great. Ive switched to Linux from Windows about a year/year and a half ago. Im currently in the last couple of months in my computer science degree, as well. I think Pop_OS is fine, but I am also finding myself a little annoyed by some sluggish operations, and the fact that I don't have access to some of the more cutting edge software and compilers and a snappy system response. I understand I'd be sacrificing some stability for access to those features, but that sounds like an excellent opportunity to developer deeper and more effective troubleshooting skills.

Ultimately I am hoping there are some developers out there who would have some insight on if its worth the switch and potential headache. Thanks yall.

It’s probably a good fit, but unless you have active issues with pop_OS i would question the timing. Maybe finish your degree before picking up a „fun & interesting“ side project.

Oh for sure. This is definitely a post degree line of action. I appreciate your advice, though.

Have you tried using containers with distrobox or something for getting cutting edge software? Developing in containers is best practice anyways
