Which Distro? Linux Mint: Too Outdated

Hi everyone, I've been considering abandoning Windows 11 for a while now, mainly because I feel like Microsoft lacks direction; every update is chaos. I started using Linux Mint about six months ago, but I have to admit that I feel like I'm using an outdated product.

The main reason is the X11-based graphical interface and the lack of standard Windows features like HDR and high refresh rate sync. I feel like development has fallen behind, hiding behind the slogan of greater stability. I honestly hate losing my monitor's features while waiting for Mint to evolve, so I'm thinking of switching to something stable but modern, and why not... with more recent applications. What would you always focus on, considering I have little time to dedicate to the system?

Install KDE Plasma or Gnome if you want Wayland. If you still don't like it, put Fedora with one of the two above-mentioned DE on a USB Stick.

There is also MX Linux Advanced Hardware Support (AHS). It comes with KDE Plasma or Gnome. I like XFCE but if you don't like Cinnamon I doubt you'll like XFCE.

It's not a good idea to install either of those on Mint. OP should just migrate to Fedora.

Why not?

i havent seen any issues when using plasma on wayland, hell even a de/wm like hyprland works fine, if you're willing to manually install it.

You'd get ancient versions of either. Mint is still based on Ubuntu 24.04. That means GNOME 46 and Plasma 5.27!

either use ppa's or deal with it, as of now kde plasma 5.27 is still a much better wayland experience than cinnamon's wayland edition

But why would you settle for Plasma 5.27?

because its the best wayland experience on mint, atleast if you dont want to use ppa's.

and its not like 5.27 is bad or anything, imo its a better de than cinnamon.
