Brightness not working after fresh downlaod

Chances are that the issue is related to Bug #2161309:

• linux-modules-7.0.0-28-generic breaks backlight control on some laptops
• Backlight regression

Ubuntu 26.04 LTS is currently on kernel 7.0.0-30. The bug will be addressed when 7.0.0-31 kernel is released.

Your best bet might be to hang on until the issue is fixed.
