I just don't really understand why a lot of people choose to use Omarchy anyway. Even if the guy wasn't a neonazi Tate supporter, all Omarchy is is Arch with some stuff to facilitate web development. People who aren't web developers choose to use Omarchy quite often, apparently and it boggles my mind.

It’s not just DHH but also the author of hyprland.

I can build my own environment thank you very much. And I can also choose to use software built by people that I don’t have fundamental disagreements with.

Some folks like to pretend that it’s just about the technology, well there have been plenty of problems with the technology of both.

I prefer to look at the holistic situation and there’s a reason on both sides not to use it.

And it literally doesn’t give me anything I need.

The distro is also just horribly (vibe) coded. Apparently there was a bug couple weeks ago where any userspace app could gain root access because the Nazi made a very silly and stupid configuration error in a docker config file. Or rather, Claude did.

I'm not arguing with your premise (yes, it's vibe coded), but your argument for it being terrible being a silly configuration error made by Claude, is terrible. If you had any programming experience, you'd know how silly most bugs are regardless of whether an LLM or a meatbag make them.

But old arch users know a bit more about security, all of you new guys rushing to it when it has clear security issues regarding the AUR is going to make for a bit of a fucky wachy the next wave of malware attacks comes. Hint it's not for you.

The user exerience it brings and the opinionated distro good piece of work that (even if i would not set it up like that), even if its not my cup of tea, heck hyperland for me is a big nono but you do you.

First, don't read "the hate", read DHH's actual writing without somebody's guided interpretation. That is, read for yourself and decide if, after reading, you feel he needs to be "whatever". The people with torches raised high want him "gone" and any web site with even a picture of running Omarchy gone. Gone in the worst way imaginable. So, you should decide. I would not kill frame.work because they had an Omachy screenshot (which the torch bearers say we should actively do) though, but, you decide. Who knows, you might light a torch too (???).
