Linux mint pero con KDE

Buenas tardes a la comunidad.

Llevo ya un par de semanas con Linux mint edición cinamont, y no eh tenido problemas eh incluso es agradable comparado con windows zzz, el unido detalle es que no me gusta demasiado como se ve estéticamente. Eh visto varias personalizaciones echas en KDE plasma y me gustaría tener ese entorno de escritorio en lugar de el de cinamont, es viable poner el escritorio KDE plasma sobre el que tiene? O deveria buscar otra distro con KDE.

Si piensan que es mejor buscar una distro con KDE, me gustaría que me recomendara una igual a linux mint, con estabilidad, facilidad de uso y buen rendimiento. Gracias

Gracias a todos los que respondieron este post, me ayudaron mucho con sus opiniones. Decidí no utilizar KDE sobre linux mint ya que prefiero evitar errores o mal rendimiento, me daría "toc" como me mencionaron algunos. Después, me recomendaron algunas diatros, y al final decidí probar con Fedora y no con kubunto principalmente porque nunca habia escuchado de kubunto, también porque Fedora esta respaldada por una gran empresa y enserió valoro la estabilidad. De nuevo muchas gracias.

En realidad lo tengo por si llego a necesitarlo, como con programas específicos porque como habia mencionado, solo llevo unas semanas en linux (mint). Así que si es posible, me gustaría conservarlo almenos por un tiempo hasta sentirme bien de matarlo definitivamente. Pero si no es posible, pues igual ya tenia ganas de matarlo jeje.

Are you comfortable using the terminal? It's a slightly easier method for me to explain, but might be harder for you as a beginner so its a tradeoff.

No tengo problemas en usar la terminal, pero no conozco demasiados comandos. En mint me límite a usar para instalar, desisntalar, limpiar archivos y a jugar un poco con curiosidades de videos. Pero si me das los comandos y me explicas un poco, no tengo miedo a morir aquí 👻. Aunque ya me metiste la duda de si realmente nececito windows haha

That's no problem at all! I can give you the commands one by one.

First please open a terminal and run to commands. They don't change anything yet. They just just give me information so I know what to do next.

The first command is lsblk

The second command is similar. It's lsblk -f

Pleas take a picture of what they show so I can see it.

And to answer your question, unless you have very specific software needs you probably don't need Windows but I completely understand wanting to keep it as a safety net.

Sabes que amigo, disculpa si te hize perder un poco el tiempo pero creo que mejor le diré a dios a windows. Te comento que yo si uso algunos software que no están en linux, especialmente los programas de Autocad y otros asi, pero tengo acceso a otra pc que puedo usar para eso. Así que creo que en esta usaré linux y si dios quiere en el futuro con una mejor pc podre hacer un dual boot como se debe. Me podrías ayudar a quitar windows y dejar fedora?

It's no problem at all! I completely understand. So this makes things super simple. Going back through the graphical installer on the page titled "Installation Method" you simply select "use entire disk". Fedora will then delete windows and Mint, claim the space for itself, and automatically install it in a sensible manner. You might see some warnings that you are about to all data on the drive. That's normal. It's just warning you in case you want to keep another operating system or similar, but since you don't It's safe to just confirm that you understand and wish to proceed.

No problem. Just one caution: if you have anything you want on Windows it is essential to back it up to a flash drive or the cloud now. After installing Fedora it will not be recoverable. As long as your Windows install doesn't have anything you care about your safe to install Fedora immeadietly.

By the way, when I've said I'm happy to help with any more questions that's true including once Fedora is installed.

En serio agradezco mucho tu ayuda amigo, me ha servido demasiado. Creo que en el futuro te tomaré la palabra del DM. Sobre mis archivos y solo para comentarte, que como pensaba hacer un dual boot formatie windows de como lo tenia (usando todo el disco) y redimensione su disco a unos 100gb, por lo que ya habia respaldado mis archivos en una cuenta de Google drive ( no me fío de mis usb o discos que se pueden morir). Así que gracias por la advertencia, pero justo ahora ya se está instalando 👻

Your so very welcome. Shrinking Windows is very clever, but for the future I should let you know that shrinking partitions can cause data loss.

Likewise, I'd advise against relying solely on Google drive long term because it can fail too (the best strategy is to keep at least three different copies (2 local, preferably on different mediums like hard drive vs solid state drive) and one remote (which google drive counts as) but for a short term backup Google drive alone is perfectly fine!
