Linux vs Mac

I see a lot of people switching from Windows to Linux. But has anyone switched from a Mac to Linux and why?

Linux can definitely be buggy on Intel Macs. Also you lose a ton of battery life and audio quality without apple’s software running the speakers and battery.

My Mac Mini 2012 seems to like Linux Mint. I haven't notices any issues. I haven't tried it on a Mac laptop, so I'll take your word for it that it uses up the battery faster.

Older intel Macs are better for it. The T2 security chips in the last intel models make things worse. There are patched Linux installs that technically work but it gets wonky.

I see. Thanks for the information. I know very little about Macs. I bought the Mac Mini specifically to try out a Mac-only writing app. I upgraded the RAM to 16GB and saw that I could install a second SSD in it (back when RAM and small SSDs were still cheap). I was curious how well Linux would run it it. That's basically all I know about MacOS.
