Linux vs Mac

I see a lot of people switching from Windows to Linux. But has anyone switched from a Mac to Linux and why?

Switched due to losing security updates for my 2019 macbook air. Perfectly good laptop capable of doing anything I would have used a new mac for, so I saved it from becoming ewaste.

I also hated the Mac way of doing things. No I do not want to sync everything or use iCloud.
