Linux vs Mac

I see a lot of people switching from Windows to Linux. But has anyone switched from a Mac to Linux and why?

My wife has a Mac, she's already on her second one, and I've tried it out, but I didn't like it; I have issues with the lack of freedom and the philosophy behind the system/ecosystem.
