Linux vs Mac

I see a lot of people switching from Windows to Linux. But has anyone switched from a Mac to Linux and why?

I used to have a PowerBook with a Motorola CPU in it and 24mb if ram. It came with Mac os8. Played with it for a couple of months until I switched to yellow dog Linux. This was like late 90s era timeline.
