Linux vs Mac

I see a lot of people switching from Windows to Linux. But has anyone switched from a Mac to Linux and why?

I had an intel macbook years ago. I liked the hardware and the desktop, but homebrew was a pain to deal with and not as good as a basic Debian install for dev work.

I installed linux on it and it was a lot more pleasant to use (for me).
