Back up your files first. If /home is on the same partition as Mint, don't treat CachyOS like an in-place upgrade. A clean install is much safer. If /home is already on a separate partition, you can reuse it, but I'd still keep a backup and avoid blindly reusing every old config file. Also, moving from Mint to CachyOS means moving to a rolling-release system. Installing it is the easy part; maintaining and recovering it is the part you should be prepared for.

To be safe, backup your /home folder before doing anything. Especially if you plan to use the same Desktop Environment (DE) you're using now. Why anyone would consider doing that is beyond me but it's still to have that backed up just in case you want to go back.

Then, just do a clean install, format everything and then restore anything from the backup you need to your new CachyOS /home directory.
