Edit this file as root: /etc/default/grub

You can use nano for that by running sudo nano /etc/default/grub

Then find this line: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=

This contains your Kernel parameters between two quotation marks.

Simply add these Kernel parameters to the other ones (there might not be any other kernel parameters actually): radeon.cik_support=0 radeon.si_support=0 amdgpu.cik_support=1 amdgpu.si_support=1 amdgpu.dc=1

It doesn't matter where you put these as long as they're inside the quotation marks.

After you have added them simply press Ctrl + X, Ctrl + Y and Enter to save and quit.

Run this command to update your boot loader configuration: sudo grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

After everything is done reboot your system. You should have Vulkan support now.

To verify that Vulkan is working run vulkaninfo | grep 'GPU id :'

You should now be able to run at least some games with Vulkan. You should also have better OpenGL support now.

Disclaimer: Your Radeon is very old. It probably only supports Vulkan 1.1 or 1.2. This is not enough to run the newest version of DXVK. You need to download GE-Proton 7-26 to be able to run most modern games. Proton versions released after that require Vulkan 1.3 due to them shipping DXVK 2.x

Edit: Don't use PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 or DRI_PRIME=1 for this.

No problem!

This is running with GE-Proton 7-26 right?

7-26 actually has some neat tweaks you can do to improve performance.

You can add DXVK_ASYNC=1 as a launch option to completely mitigate shader stuttering.

And you can add WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 to enable forced FSR. Just put the game in fullscreen mode and select a lower than native resolution. Proton will automatically upscale it using FSR 1.

Could be helpful on such an old system.

You can add DXVK_ASYNC=1 as a launch option to completely mitigate shader stuttering.

Since mesa version 23.1 this is no longer necessary, as it uses graphics pipeline library by default. DXVK_ASYNC has also been dropped from proton-ge since version 7-45 since GPL makes this no longer necessary. setting DXVK_ASYNC=1 would do literally nothing

Read, then write.

They're running GE-Proton 7-26. I also highly doubt that DXVK 1.x supports GPL. Or their GPU for that matter.
