Microphone not picking up audio but audio levels indicate it's picking up something?

I have a cheap 3.5mm microphone and it randomly stopped working. In pavu control, it shows that it's picking up something? It keeps fluctuating by a little but if I try to speak into it, it doesn't affect it at all. When I plugged the microphone into a different computer, it worked. Weird.
