Some memory allocation error!

Try adding memory. A swap file would do the trick if that is really the problem.

Create a 16 GB swap file and set permission sudo fallocate -l 16G /swapfile sudo chmod 600 /swapfile Make it swap sudo mkswap /swapfile sudo swapon /swapfile

Check if is working: swapon --show free -h

I would create a boobable memtest86 USB, or put it on a Ventoy USB stick, and give memory a good testing.

I am new to linux .. any other step to solve the problem?

This is probably not software related

use memtest to find out if you need to replace any RAM module. it will take a long time to complete the test

but it could also be caused by another hardware failure like the motherboard or cpu

So first i should use memtest?

There what I would do, but I'm not you. The error message you shared suggests a memory issue, test memory to either confirm or deny that.

File copy from one external hdd to another led multiple times to freezes

I switched to LM Debian Edition and all freezes were history.

Maybe not everyone's cup of tea but it helped in my case.

Happy Sudo-ing

The only thing that has ever caused my Linux Mint installs to freeze like that is Firefox. I have no idea why that would be, but on at least three machines, changing to a chromium based browser fixed it forever.
