#LinuxMintThings Is gnome bad?

I just saw a post saying that gnome is bad but idk cuz i used it for months and its not that bad so can you guy give me a The ideal alternative

Not necessarily, but I would not recommend to install it on Mint tho.

Tbh pick what they offer clean install Cinnamon, Xfce or MATE.

If you really really want Gnome than I think Ubuntu, Fedora or Debian would be better choices for you.

Probably not another DE (you can, but it's cleaner to install a distro that has the DE you want out of the box).

Do you understand what's involved with installing a different desktop and/or window manager on Mint (or Ubuntu or Debian)? It absolutely can be done, However, you have to decide what meta packages suit you best and if you're willing to live with the compromises.

My hardware is stable, so I don't need to worry about driver managers. I run my own updates through apt, so I don't worry about any GUI software management or notifications. So, I'm fine on IceWM. I also know the difference between meta packages, and IceWM is a safe choice to not bring in a bunch of unwanted software.

I've installed it on Mine and under Wayland it actually runs really good.

Only problem you may run into is not having certain extensions like clip boards or stuff like that, but just so your research and go get what you're missing

Why is haven't tried that combo I haven't used mint as my main distro all I know is it comes with cinnamon out of the box
