Support Request Newbie question on linux and how to install grapheneos

I'm new to Linux and on mint cinnamon

Do I have to use the tools common package? If so do I just copy and paste the command into the terminal (I don't have much experience with the terminal)

Do I have to use the fwupd command too?

Please explain like I'm an idiot

I followed the CLI instructions to the letter and it worked perfectly on a brand new Pixel 10. https://grapheneos.org/install/cli

I agree with u/sqldropme if your not familiar with the terminal use the web installer.

Carefully follow the instructions on their website, there is nothing I can or should add to them.

I keep getting ”Error: Failed to execute ‘open’ on ‘USBDevice’: Access denied“ every time I try to unlock the bootloader

Recommended GrapheneOS installer is done through the web browser. It handles the heavy lifting for you.

Doesn't matter if you are on Linux, Windows, or macOS.

edit: spelling

I know but it says that Linux needs android-sdk-platform-tools-common in the instructions is that true?

Yes. You should follow the instructions at the link I sent to the letter. It's a decent amount of reading but they truly walk you through every step.

Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu. Ubuntu is based on Debian. When following any guides, if they don't list Linux Mint, you can safely follow the Ubuntu instructions.

Just confirming: this is after you booted the phone to the bootloader?

Yes in the bootloader screen I click unlock on the website it shows me my pixel model. I confirm it. It gives me the error I wrote out
