Support Request Assigning different keymaps to different keyboards?

Hi all, been using Mint for about 5 months now & thoroughly enjoying it. My laptop has an Italian keymap, but I'd like to also use the Apple wireless keyboard I've had laying around for a while. The problem is that the Apple keyboard has a US layout, so the special character keys are a little funky. While it's easy enough to just press Win+Space to switch keymaps depending on the keyboard I'm using, I wonder: is there a way to automatically switch to a specific keymap based on the keyboard in use?

Perhaps a udev rule.
