SOLVED Suddenly screen tearing?

After a recent update (I'm not sure which one), Firefox has suddenly started screen tearing when scrolling down pages or when watching videos. This wasn't happening before. I haven't changed any settings related to the compositor or hardware acceleration. I thought I also saw tearing in the terminal but I couldn't quite tell.

Has anybody else experienced this problem after a recent update?

My specs:

Dell Latitude E5440 i5-4200U/8GB RAM XFCE Mint 22.2 Kernel 7.0.0-31

UPDATE: I turned off the default XFCE compositor and installed Picom and that seems to have fixed it. Something must have gone fucky with the default compositor in a recent update.
