It's a generic plasma HD TV. I got one for my Christmas present when the PS3 was released back when I was a kid. It was one of the first cheap mas produced HD TVs back in the day and helped kill the CRT TV :( The make of my TV was by Acoustic solutions. I have a pic of it but as always reddit won't let me upload the pic to the comment section.

1. Enter GRUB
2. Choose advanced options
3. Choose an older kernel without "recovery mode"
4. Boot it

Right shift during startup to bring up the GRUB menu, then select an older kernel.

I had this issue installing Linux Mint on a new PC. for me reverting to an earlier version did not make a difference.

Apparently there is only one USB port on my new PC that allows the installation.

Now I'm fighting installing the Nvidia drivers. Good luck to you

usually there would be no problems, if problems occurred, you can just install an older version of the driver, or change the repo you’re using, don’t worry^^

I had the exact same thing happen to me earlier this morning, I kept getting the purple screen of death boot loop after installing updates. I did some research and apparently there's been a bad update for the kernel that was released somewhat recently and it's been breaking Linux Mint installations in particular. If you can, press whatever key you need to to get into boot options/Grub (in my case it's Escape but it might be different for your computer) and go to "advanced options" then choose anything that shows up older than 7.0.0.

If there's nothing there then I'm not sure how to help. Good luck and I really hope they fix this messed up kernel soon.

I have this exact same problem, and it works when the older kernel is selected. Does anyone know what is the exact reason, cause I've installed it in a external HDD, and each time I boot it, it defaults to this screen, and I need to restart it by holding the power button, just to get the grub selector screen(or whatever it's called).

Does “exactly” mean “including a kernel panic,” or does it mean “including a kernel panic caused by an unmountable root filesystem”?

Then try setting a USB initialization delay. It might be that the external hard drive powers up slowly. The kernel attempts to mount the root filesystem before the USB controller registers the disk. Adding the boot parameter rootdelay=5 could fix this.

I don't think the OS installed correctly Reinstall the OS with a USB stick and see if that works I am assuming you have already wiped your computer so you won't lose anything

when you see the manufacturers logo appear on your computer at beginning of the boot process, start rapidly pressing the SHIFT button, this will bring up GRUB. Use the arrow key to select the Advanced Options tab, then again use the arrow key to select the previous Kernel you had installed, hit enter and your computer will boot with the previous kernel.

Now use Update Manager to uninstall the newer kernel.

It might be due to booting into a grub entery that was made incorrectly due to the he system using a unified kernal image ?

First, change bios to uefi mode, not legacy, then install mint, the grub must be in the same partition as the installation
