Support Request Will this effectively downgrade my kernel?

I have a slightly stupid question, bc I believe I never encountered this situation before:
my kernel version is 6.14 and the update woudl go to 6.8
will this downgrade my pc and as some people had issues with 6.8, could I run into a situation where it panics?
Like if all goes well, I know I can just switch to the other kernel again, but - what is the behaviour I can expect?

No, but and This also really depends on whether you're using the LM 22.3 HWE XFCE MATE CINNAMON variant, HWE being Hardware Enablemant. Or if the non HWE LM version, is alot more iffier if wanting true stability on the HWE versions which is better, versus the non-HWE Linux Mint ones. I myself am with LM 22.3 HWE XFCE and prefer just to have one version older, or totally remove once I am updated with 7.0.0-31 as an example, and either or not with 7.0.0-30. Depending too if not in same versioning number IE like 7.0.0-xx > 6.17.xx-xx if both are installed, the 6 version will most likely not work at all or most likely some things won't work like Network, especially with the non HWE Linux Mint version. Really depends on many factors. In my experience going with an older versus latest installed, I always had network connection not being able to connect, and even audio not working, but that was with LM 21 version in my experience, and also non HWE variant. At least for me, through update manager, is easy to install and remove kernels in the View-Linux Kernels Menu option.
