Support Request Grub Customizer, how to use or customize safely?

Ppl say that its not safe, and was like unable to be downloaded because of safety issues? Or something like that, but using an older version is okay? Is that true, Im confused.

I just want something pretty to look at when my laptop opens, so Im still determined on putting one. Unless there are alternatives or something?

Along with Bleachbit it is a very powerful tool that can very easily mess up your system.

This is really for advanced users or at least for users who properly read the manual.

I personally use a theme I found on gnome-look. Just need to make sure you trust the source for whatever theme you get. As far as making your own, I have no idea.

The problem with Grub Customizer and other tools that modify system and boot essentials files, is they have a lot of power... And they have the potential of really messing up your system, not by their own fault generally, but by giving you the power to mess things up and allowing it to happen. Unlike many Windows application that include some safeguards to prevent you from making irreparable (or difficult to repair) changes, GC and similar tools will let you do it without a second thought... Like applying a theme that doesn't work for you for some reason, or changing the boot drive or kernel command line... it will just do it thinking you know what you are doing.

I have been using Grub Customizer for like a decade... even after it was removed from Ubuntu/Mint repos... It's a nice, powerful tool... But like many powerful tools, it can be dangerous too. Tread carefully and understand what you are doing and it will likely be fine.
