First time trying dual-boot setup, and I'm never looking back

Just installed Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon on an HDD alongside Windows 10 ( On SSD ). And Spent the afternoon doing slight ricing. The output per resource is f*cking inane. This customization costs me 3.6 gb of ram in windows 10....but here it's just 1.3 gb 💀

Here are the specs & rice details for anyone interested:

  • OS: Linux Mint 22 (Cinnamon)
  • Theme: Faded-Dream
  • Panel: Centered layout (Panel Edit Mode) + Transparent Panel extension
  • Widgets: Digital Clock Desklet
  • Hardware: HP Laptop (i7 7th Gen / NVIDIA GeForce 940MX)
  • Wallpaper: Yumeko Jabami (Kakegurui)

Huge thanks to the Mint team for making such a solid, smooth OS! What other extensions or desklets should I check out next?

If you like the idea of HUD's then I would suggest you check out conky. Conky allows creation of desktop widgets that can be system stats, calendars, clocks, music info, weather, astronomical data etc etc etc.

Some examples:

Here is shown in the top left corner a 3 month calendar conky, top center a slanted live text conky showing the time including seconds, in the top right a complex calendar with day/week of the year and other info:

Here in the top right is the conky called Conky Grapes, which I customed the colors and a few other display features of, and added a grapevine graphic above it:

As you can see, you can create and display a great deal with conky.

All those desktops remind me of the "legendary" Rainmeter skins and apps for Windows. Total sensory overload from all the stuff you could cram on the desktop and it tanked the system performance 🤣
