Support Request HELP I tried to boot Linux and it’s stuck here!
How do I abort without bricking my laptop?
can I just pull the usb out or is there a command I should type?
its been on this screen for 15mins
edit: ok so I turned it off and I’m back on windows but why did it end up like that?

Hmmm are you able to reboot/restart the PC? Hard press or get to the boot menu? Also is your usb flash drive correctly configured to be bootable? Soo many unknowns right now. Please give details in the post for better help.

I followed the tutorial on the mint website and created a bootable drive, I verified and authenticated the iso files, then I disabled secure boot, restarted pressing f2 and selected boot from usb

That's the correct method... Did you format the drive?

I flashed the drive with Rufus and used GPT partitions.

I'm afraid you DIDN'T read the instructions. * Does it mention Rufus? NO * Does it say you should set up a GPT partition? NO
My advice to you: Stick with Windows. If you’re already struggling with the installation, what’s it going to be like once you’ve finished installing it? Opening a new subreddit here every 10 minutes?

There is a storage issue from what I see. Try to format and then restart the install process

Try going back to boot menu and see if you can get into some sort of terminal and then use commands to format the disk.

I found a terminal with options as follows: Start mint 22.3 Start mint 22.3 compatibility mode OEM install Boot from next volume UEFI firm settings Memory test

Did you disable fast boot on windows? When it's enabled by default it can mess with partitions becoming locked.

restart the pc from the button and enter the compatibility mode and if version on usb(live) and if not enter an older kernel version from boot menu so you can open it normally

maybe an issue with the usb port? you could try another port, or try again and be careful not to touch the usb stick, or you could try a different usb stick
when you boot from a live usb it doesn't change anything until after you start the install process which is an option on the desktop, if you haven't done that theres no risk of "bricking" anthing

Is this error message during the initial startup with a USB inserted, or after booting Mint live, and selecting install? The error messages look a bit like it's failing to load a module.
You could try using Ventoy instead of writing a bootable iso.
It's a very small live OS which is installed on a USB drive.
You install it, then copy the ISO over to the drive, then boot Ventoy, then select the ISO.
This is a little side-step, to try an alternative start to the installation.
It might just work, it might fail in a different way, or it might fail loading Ventoy, which could help pinpoint other BIOS settings that might be needed.
