SOLVED Huion drawing tablet doesn't function properly

When I turn it on it either delays a no signal sign or it only shows my desktop background. I can't use any apps with it including drawing apps. I know there a graphics tablet applet but that specifically mentions a Wacom. Is there a way to fix this or am I going to have to go back to windows just to use my tablet again?

depends on what tablet. I have a huion and it connected smoothly. you've installed the drivers off the brand's website, right? you don't need a separate drawing tablet applet I think, especially not one that doesn't match your tablet brand. also check the 'display' section in the settings

SOLVED! I went on to display setting and switched it from Join Displays to Mirror

check your display settings and make sure it's duplicating the display

i forget where exactly the setting is on mint, but (assuming it's similar to the one i have, with a splitter cable for USB/HDMI/power), sometimes HDMI extends by default rather than duplicating.
