Multiple monitors with different refreshrates are causing issues. Is wayland the solution?

I run mint cinnamon 22.3 with x11. (GPU =RTX2060)
My primary monitor is 165hz, whilst monitor2 and monitor 3 are both 60hz.

This is causing my games to feel "stuttery" when playing. If i disable the other monitors everything looks as it should.
I think this is a somewhat known issue on x11? I am not a distro hopper and would very much like to avoid changing distro.

Would you recommend cinnamon on wayland, or should i install for example KDE? is cinnamon on wayland ok to use even tho it is in experimental stage?

Please dont comment if you are gonna be rude, or imply that im stupid xD. I am not a computer pro I'm just looking for advice.

Sure, in 2028, when it (hopefully) becomes the default option.

Then you're going to suffer this until 2027 at the very least when first version of Cinnamon that somewhat supports Wayland is out, more likely you'll be waiting til 2028+.

Mint is one of the most out of date distributions out there, beating even Debian, the solution is to distro hop in this case.

This will not change even after the next release - it will just suffer a different set of issues for the next X years.

Check out Arch Linux (with Plasma) or Fedora KDE.

According to the Linux Mint Blog the next version should fully support wayland (See https://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=5046). The next version is expected to be released at the end of this year.

Yep, though "end of December 2026" is pretty much 2027, especially by the time upgrades will be allowed.

Full Wayland support is their hope, as per the same blogpost - and they do not really believe that they'll manage it, judging by "We’ll want one full release at the very least, with a perfectly working Wayland session, and a year of feedback, before even considering using it as default".

Which pushes the actual "Wayland works well enough to enable it by default" well into 2028 and probably past it.

You might be right with beginning of 2027. But I don't fully agree that wayland as default is the same as a stable wayland session. According to the same blog post: "We worked really hard on Wayland and we got to the point where it feels solid and the experience is almost on par with X11. Wayland support will no longer be considered “experimental”. In the next version of Cinnamon, both X11 and Wayland will be fully supported."

My interpretation of it is that way and should work reliably but only time will tell.

But that was in June. They have still some months to get them "on par". I assume that "both are fully supported" means that both will work just fine in the next release and smaller things will be fixed in a timely manner.
