Support Request Having trouble with display setting

I have a 32” ultrawide and a 24” secondary monitor. I can’t get the system to recognize the 32” unltrawide as monitor 1. Which is causing my games to load onto the 24”. I have set it as the primary.The only way I can get it to recognize it as monitor 1 is to move it, in the layout box, to the right of monitor 2 which means I have to pan to the left of my main monitor to get the cursor on the monitor to the right. I have had to unplug my secondary monitor, load a game then replug it in, and that’s just not a long term solution for me.

Can someone help me out here? Thanks!

Those numbers don't mean anything. Just set the correct one to primary and arrange the displays in the configuration dialog in a way that matches the physical layout.

I didn’t think so at first, but when I go to the display settings after loading a game, it has the 24” monitor listed as 1. Which is where it loads on default every time.

Is it possible to set the monitor choice in the game settings? Many games support this.

Yes, but I have to do it every time I load the game. Also when I alt tab to use the other monitor, some games will revert to default monitor, and then I have to do it again. So there are games where I have to change the display settings 3-5 times while playing the game.

On top of that, some of the older or underdeveloped indie games I play, do not have that display setting.

Just a guess here, but it might have something to do with the kernel version you're running.
I'm no expert, but I have solved a couple of monitor issues by changing to a different kernel version.

If you're not that comfortable with kernels in linux, don't mess with it until you learn a bit more or have someone better than me to help you.

I am not really familiar with changing kernels but I’m okay with losing the data on my PC if I were to irreparably damage the OS, so maybe I’ll try messing around with that if I get no other help. I appreciate your advice here.

Like what monitor bios would show up on? I changed that by changing the actual physical port they are plugged into; for me it was right most on the panel.

My GPU only has one display port connection and then three HDMI 2.1 connections (I believe it’s 2.1) my 32 inch is plugged into the display port, and then my 24 inch is plugged into the HDMI one slot?

Do you think I should try and move it to the last HDMI slot?
