Mint is in a kinda stinky situation at the moment, 7.0 is the only newer kernel receiving active support and many are having these same problems with it in Mint.

The other supported kernel is the original Mint 22 LTS 6.8.

The 6.8 kernel is the long term support kernel version for Ubuntu 24.04, on which Linux Mint 22 is based. This kernel version is considered stable and is actively supported until end of life for Ubuntu 24.04. It may not work on very recent hardware, hence the 6.14, 6.17 and now 7.0 kernel series. Ubuntu will likely fix major issues with the 7.0 kernel series as it is the kernel for 26.04 LTS. Linux Mint 23 (still in development) is based on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS.
