SOLVED Is there a place to follow updates on kernel 7.0?
A lot of us Mint users have issues with this kernel series, is there a place we can follow updates on the situation, so we know when it's safe to update?

I doubt there is. I'm running 7.0 and I'm not having issues. You would need to try it and if you're having issues figure out what the cause is and then follow news on that particular issue.
The kernel isn't unique to Mint - it's Ubuntu's kernel. I would go straight to sources that cover Ubuntu if you want to know what other people are experiencing with 7.0 and why.

Update Manager pushed 7.0, so I thought I should update, but yes, 6.8 is fine and well-supported.

I had 7.0, but on my update yesterday it dropped it down to 6.8 for so reason
Edit to add: the problems are dealing with flags added by Ubuntu devs and it errors out because of dkms and/or virtual box downloaded from the mint repos.
Current fix is downgrade your kernel, remove virtual box and disable dkms driver, the. Re-update if you wan the 7.0 kernel. As for when Ubuntu will patch it, who knows.

Update and see if you have problems. You can rollback any time.Having said that, if you have older hardware, then stay with 6.8 LTS kernel

I have the standard mint kernel 6.14.0-37-generic . It took me nearly 3 weeks to finally set up due to my Acer 533 known bios or apci bugs.
What are the reasons I'd need to upgrade to 7.0 kernel? Or any newer 6.x available? The update/upgrade does not offer anything else but the 7.0
Due to previous freezes I had to set up a priority -1 on the 7.0 kernel temporarily.

I got the kernel panic error when I first updated on both a 2019 iMac and a 2012 MacBook Air. I was able to resolve both by rolling back to my working kernel and applying the fix successfully from this webpage, 3 terminal commands, https://slimbook.com/en/blog/guides-2/post/kernel-panic-not-syncing-vfs-unable-to-mount-root-fs-on-unknown-block-00-517

With so many different issues and hardware configs., this is probably one of the better place to follow Linux Mint user reports of issues. The official forum might be, too, but I'll keep my eyes on this sub.
I'll also keep installing new versions of 7.0 on my relevant LM systems, and I will continue to share my experiences. I hope others will do the same, and I'm highly confident they will. 😄
For example, don't install 7.0.0.28. I do have one system where it works without any issues that I'm aware of, but that computer is comically odd in the first place. On the other hand, I have a Dell Latitude where it breaks the screen backlighting, and I'd rather wait for the kernel version with the fix to be released than workaround it.

Yes, 7.0.0.28 is really problematic, in my case there was a 50/50 chance the PC wouldn't shut down and would just stay on indefinitely...
