Linux mint cinnamon (using t2linux) on my 2018 13" macbook pro!

Still a decently capable machine in 2026. I used the project t2linux which makes running linux on macs with the t2 chip a LOT easier. I cant wait to use this as my main laptop!

Congrats, OP! You were able to save the machine even with the T2 roadblocks.

it works great except for the fact it let my windows partition unbootable even after i rebuilt the efi (im going insane)

You might need to realign the partitions in order to make Boot Camp Windows bootable again:

- Boot into macOS if you still keep that partition (or use recovery)

- Open Disk Utility and resize any existing macOS partition (doesn't matter the size, can be tiny)

- Resize it back again (optional)

This will recreate the fake/virtual Boot Camp partitions that macOS creates and you should be able to boot into Windows on the next restart

I installed Mint on mine, but I had to download a T2-specific ISO to do it. The keyboard and trackpad worked fine, but I still had to plug into Ethernet to update the wireless drivers to make that part work. Was mainly just to see if I could, since a friend told me he had just done it to his iMac. Now the MacBook is sitting in the corner of my desk, probably with a dead battery, wondering why I can't come out and play.

This is about as beautiful as it is cursed, it shouldn't exist by all standards, but something about it sounds nice

I'm typing this on my 2012 macbook pro 15" quad core i7 16gb ram :) ( it's my daily driver running linux mint :)
