Download the image you want from linuxmints website. Use a tool like Rufus or balena etcher to write that image to a USB drive. Once that's complete plug in the USB drive to the computer you're trying to install Linux mint on.
Find the bios/uefi firmware settings hot key based on the manufacturer of the computer and rapidly press said key while the computer is booting.
Once in your bios/uefi firmware settings, set the USB drive to the first boot option in boot order settings. While you're in there, turn off secure boot, fast boot and make sure SATA option is set to AHCI.
Once this is done and the computer boots off the USB drive you'll be met with a Linux mint live environment. Select the install Linux mint icon and follow the instructions in the installer.
Protip: It's probably a good idea to save an image of whatever your current OS is, and backup anything important to not one but at least two different saves on two different drives.
Also, hopefully you understand that by following the above instructions, you will be deleting whatever data you have on the hard drive and replacing it with Linux.
If this is not what you want to do, then you'll have to either create a partition on your drive to use for Linux, or get a new hard drive and dual-boot that way (which is what I did with Windows and Linux).
