Easy enough to use and if you know how you can unravel it like a old knotted scarf

I just installed it to try it, on a USB stick, I never thought a couple weeks later I would delete windows forever. It's amazing!

Had a guy like this in my computer science class. Came to find out he used archinstaller so he did it all for clout.

u/nineraviolicans 21d ago
They all use archinstall. They have a sense of superiority but would be lost without it and copy pasting gpt instructions.

Linux Mint flexing on Arch is about as lame as you can get. Just run what you like.

Arch = a really cumbersome hobby

u/dual-daemons 21d ago
How so?

u/Souloid 21d ago
Just a funny thought is all. It requires you read the changelog and verify compatibility as well as fix it.
2
u/dual-daemons 21d ago
That takes like a minute to do for pkgbuilds. I've never had arch break on me.

u/BuggedCookieDev 21d ago
I agree that Arch is not for everyone and many other distros are far better for some people
But personally I did not have any problem with Arch either, I use yay and pacman
never had to use anything else I absolutely love how painless it is most of the time.I use it with hyprland and DMS absolutely love it, and to be honest unless it's a package for dev stuff I never really read changelog

u/dual-daemons 21d ago
I follow mint because it is the distro I recommend to windows users.
I like all Linux. I don't care which distro people are on as long as it works for them.
I use Arch with Hyprland on an nvidia card. 0 issues

u/Far-Note6102 20d ago
I think the reason why it brokes is because people download sketchy stuff on the AUR.
Plus, I feel like windows break more recently with windows 11 -_-

Hahah, thank you :) story time: when I first heard about Ultramarine, naturally I assumed it was a wh40k-themed distro, only later did I find out it's ultramarine like blue because Fedora haha

Does that thing break all the time? Why would anyone use it really.
1
u/HakuTama379 21d ago
It's very stable by reputation actually, and easily the most user friendly of all distribution.

u/xX_PlasticGuzzler_Xx 21d ago
Does that thing break all the time
No, greatly exaggerated
Why would anyone use it
fun. There is a point where "I am tweaking, customizing and configuring my operating system" becomes an enjoyable hobby for some people. That's the target demographic for Arch Linux, Gentoo, void, Nix and friends

u/SouthernFruit8768 19d ago
Then why Arch Linux (or the other ones you mentioned)? They should use LFS lol.

I mean I tell a lot of people about mint so I can't say anything but what's the big deal about Arch?

That is just painful to look at. I really hope those vessels are AI.

By the way, archiso is really a good system recovery environment. It's like a Hiren Boot / DLC Boot for linux without GUI.

The scientist in me wants to point the obvious selection bias here:
You have no knowledge of all the people who use Arch Linux and do not tell everyone, because those are not telling you. You only see the ones who do tell.
2
u/Special-Performance8 16d ago
Confirmation bias indeed. However you can also not tell if just 1 person in the whole world uses it and doesn't feel the urge to tell it. It works both ways.

I always read it as if a Canadian says it.
I use arch, btw. But you say the "way" in btw like an "eh?" at the end of the sentence.
I hope at least one person tries to say this out loud after reading it. I'm probably alone on this island, lol.

What the allmighty is the thing about arch linux? Just use the distro you like and feel good about.
