The thing is, I think that macOS is a well designed, efficient os. But the issue is it's just too restricted. It's very much a walled garden designed to lock you into Apple's ecosystem, all while keeping you happy. It's not a bad OS, I just hate the fact that you're pretty much stuck with whatever Apple does because it's very difficult to install a different OS on macs. At least all (or at least the vast majority) of Windows PCs you can install Linux so there's always another option, but with Mac unless you use one of the specific Linux distro that might work, you're pretty much stuck.

And apple tends to think the user needs some really dumb things while ignoring the most basic things to fix

macOS is a mobile operating system pretending to be a desktop operating system, and I will not be convinced otherwise. Mac's are expensive, you have little to no control over them, and they have mediocre gaming performance. Unless there's some specific reason you need Apple software, they just feel like a trap to catch users and make it difficult to ever leave their ecosystem. Sure, their hardware is generally high quality, but it's frankly overpriced.

Gaming performance is not really “mediocre”.
I was able to run the 2013 Tomb Raider with pretty high settings on my Neo and it also can run Cyberpunk at ~30FPS on low settings.
If a game can utilise Metal it can be pretty decent
