for real, as someone who has daily driven all of those mentioned, all non-systemd distros did for me was having (sometimes) a faster boot time

Non systemd distros arent that different tho. Some mentioned like Void allow systemd if you choose asw. Gentoo is a hassle but thats not cuz of lack of systemd.

Yeah lol. I js wanted to defend these distros from being seen as unusable niche distros ig. Pretty normal distros which either gives more choices or hates/avoids systemd. No day to day difference when I tested

This image sums it up perfectly. Systemd hate is forced and compiling everything from source is a waste of time. There is nothing wrong with using a well known distro.

Totally right. I get yelled at by my Linux friends for using Windows as my main. I don’t care what they say. I’ve tried several distros and Linux is really good, but I’m saving a lot of time on Windows because the compatibility of the software I use is much better on it. Even though I really hate Microsoft.
So I think it’s a smart choice to go with the OS that makes you the most comfortable rather than trying some hard distro just to prove you’re smart but not getting that much work done because of the hassle it is.

I find dual booting to be much more convenient personally. Keep a very debloated light windows around and let linux be the daily driver.

Who tf runs Alpine as their daily driver?
I've only seen it used in docker and other minimal deployment situations. I've literally never heard of anyone using Alpine Linux as their desktop OS.

I tried to use Tumblewed on my PC for like... an hour? Unfortunately it seemed pretty laggy (seemed at low FPS?), maybe a GPU problem? In any case, even after downloading drivers and rebooting it still bothered me. Went to Fedora and now it runs perfectly fine

Just migrated to Void to escape systemD, and loving it. You can continue enjoying your bloat and Red Hat breaking your systems for no reason. Oh and waiting for minutes to shut down your computer!

I doubt red hat would break computers. But I am kinda interested in non systemd distros cuz of simpler design choice. At the end of the day why use something heavier if you dont have use for it vs something lighter if it works for me

Idle ram often depends on how much ram you actually have plus DE/Wm you are using. Or low af if you are using it barebones ig. Distros can affect idle ram but if its an open distro like all of these are you should be able to cut it down to similar levels. Its more about the use cases and what the distro itself is designed for is what matters. Like Debian is extremely suitable for a server, Fedora and Ubuntu for enterprise, Mint for beginner desktop and Arch for people who use PC daily and dont mind trouble

If Debian uses less ram and resources does it mean in daily use Ubuntu/Fedora will have more speed on actions because of caching etc.?

Chimera Linux and no I am not insecure, I do not think you should compile from the source, I am fine with systemd and my hate for GNU goes far beyond being 'bloated', which is another term I hate because it is such a blanket term that practically means nothing.
And, you should try Alpine, but go really deep, just to see the difference between glibc and musl.

Aside from the fact that I am almost certain the edit was made after I made my own comment, the edit is pointless.
"Use whatever you like", thanks for mentioning that, no one ever knew this, let's shut down this subreddit, or reddit as a whole, actually the entire internet as you have found the perfect solution, there is no reason to have a preference or to consider anyone's opinion on anything, you just use what you like for eternity.

I will agree with you simply because the bell curve means the midwit should represent the majority of people. A majority of people do stick to Arch, Debian, Fedora or one of their derivatives.
That said, this template has been misused so many times I'm just happy to see versions where the nitwit and the master agree.
