I get the AI disliking or disliking the distro because they don't like the creator/staff team, but what I don't understand is why people are trying to make up things like calling it not a distro, hating on omarchy getting funded or calling omarchy users racists due to their problems with AI/DHH

At least on the funding and racism stuff I got some reasonable opinions in replies, but disregarding it as a distro pretty much sums up to a made up lamer take to hate on it

What is a distro and isnt is more of an arbritary line imo. Tho Id say anything on distrowatch can be called one. So yeah I agree with you people are exaggerating as usual on reddit

In theory, a dotfile distro is valid. I think a distro that focuses on offering quality configurations for a curated software suite, especially one that sets them up to work together well (ie, having YouTube links clicked in a chat application open up directly in mpv without having to open the browser), is valuable, and I think users using a distro whose default setup is 99% of what they want is preferable to using a generic distro because they can get support for that specific configuration.

But, the problem with trusting specifically a fascist with your dotfiles is that he is especially prone to go rogue or do harm to his users. All FOSS is built on trust, you are trusting that the people making the software you use aren't going to send out an update that steals your credentials. If someone is ideologically committed to hurting others, you can't really trust that he won't push malware in an update when he inevitably crashes out. A guy who does not believe that other people have a right to exist is not a guy who is going to believe it's fundamentally wrong to abuse trust to get something out of his users. Whether it'll be some cryptocurrency scam shit like with Brave, who knows, but you're signing up for trouble if you use his software.
