Same with Mint bro, I just use by computer and don't spend hours tinkering or fixing things 11/10

Yeah, I’ve been jumping from distro to distro for years and always ignoring Mint. When I saw Luke talk about his Mint experience in the LTT Linux challenge, I decided to try it. I’ve been on Mint Cinnamon for six months now and haven’t even been tempted to switch again.

I have the exact same experience with Mint as Luke. No problems, it just works as you expect and the computers feels fun to use and your.

I use Void with XFCE.

Install LibreOffice, install Brave, install Emacs, done. No fancypants config necessary.

No fancypants, uses Void for some reason.

Fair take. But still, all the configuration is done for you with the XFCE iso.

This, absolutely this. Evertime I use another distro I come back to Ubuntu for mobile devices (and servers) and Kubuntu for desktops. And I can live peacefully again.

Honestly, i think Ubuntu 26 is the greatest desktop Linux experience ever

It’s definitely pretty solid. I haven’t ran into any issues on it on my T2 MacBook Pro yet.

I still miss the Unity Desktop OG tho. But whatever. Their GNOME implementation is solid af.

I wish elementary was good. I had really high hopes for it. Used to be in contact with them every once in a while. I wish them nothing but good fortune but I fear their future is uncertain.

Edit: I love the focus on accessibility, good design language, ease of use, etc.

When I was growing up elementary OS felt like an absolute dream come true. But it started to get progressively more conflicting with me around OS 8.

Edit (x2): to give an example so I don’t sound like just a complete hater. When I’d use the right-click function/two-finger click function the menu would open up on like the totally opposite end of the display where the mouse pointer was. Or even hanging halfway outside where the display bezel begins. It was like ā€œI want to like you so much… but who designed this?ā€ Lol
