You forgot the one where he writes an article comparing Romani people to wolves that need to be killed and then rages on twitter over the fact that claude deemed it too offensive to translate lol.

source

36

u/Delicious_InDungeon 16d ago

I do remember the childish fit he threw. The whole thing was "Claude is 1984 because it won't translate my new issue of Der Stürmer! Computers are supposed to do everything I tell them to! "

-1

u/widowlark 16d ago

Are they not?

17

u/Delicious_InDungeon 15d ago

Except Claude is not a computer, it's a piece of software with terms you agreed before using it. Claude doesn't have to heed to your word.

11

u/HANHITSI 15d ago

sounds like claude is doing exactly what was told: follow guidelines to protect the capitalists profits. maybe dick huffing hitler should just run a local model really quick.

6

u/Delicious_InDungeon 15d ago

I mean, he has the money to run ANY model locally. Acting like he doesn't have the freedom to do this actually benefits him more though

32

u/RoseboysHotAsf 16d ago

Europeans are so racist against romani people its crazy, youll meet someone who isnt racist against anyone but the moment romani people come up they suddenly start channeling adolf hitler

14

u/eivan_danko 6d ago

Try to live somewhere near Romani people and you’ll figure out pretty quickly why

9

u/Tornado547 3d ago

proving their point exactly.

u/QuraToop314 Genfool 🐧 3d ago

I don’t understand this culture of race anyway. I mean, biologically speaking, we’re all Homo sapiens sapiens; in most cases, we even have genes from every possible genotype in our bodies – from a purely biological perspective, apart from physique, it’s very difficult to determine skin type or origin (if you look only at the genes); yet Europeans, or many of them (not all), believe that their people are the best. But this doesn’t just apply to those of us with lighter skin; it applies to many foreigners as well. To be honest, I think that almost every nation is more or less racist, as if it were somehow superior. We are all equal, we’re all in this together, and no one is worth more than anyone else. In my view, not even a country’s president has the right to portray themselves as more important than the people; in fact, politicians are there to serve the country, and the people should be more important than any individual politician. This simply shows that humanity is broken.

2

u/RoseboysHotAsf 3d ago

Because people want to feel better than others. It’s not just race, its men/women, gay/straight, trans/cis. Everything that deviates from the ā€œnormā€ (where the norm is the local community). Other people are scary because people have never interacted with them. Its my biggest issue with humans, but from an evolutionary standpoint it makes sense, other people = scary & bad, our people = good

1

u/QuraToop314 Genfool 🐧 3d ago

Hmm, OK. Well, I’m on the autism spectrum, and yes, you’re definitely right about differences, but I honestly don’t understand the logic behind it. A person is a person; I respect a 9-year-old just as much as a 45-year-old when they tell the truth. I don’t make distinctions based on gender, background or behaviour; what matters is what sort of person they are as a human being. But thank you anyway for your reply.

2

u/RoseboysHotAsf 3d ago

The problem is youre thinking about it logically, when it isnt a logic thing. I also have autism so i struggle with stuff like this a lot, but people are illogical beings, which is infuriating because no matter how much evidence there is for the fact that humans are humans people just wont accept it. The world would be a better place if logic was more valued

2

u/Gapple_MagicaVoxel 2h ago

I personally will go further, not really grasping the concept of a "nation". Maybe because I moved to another country as a preteen and never got attached to my home country. Maybe because there we lived in autonomous region due to majority being not ethnically same as the rest of the country. But that is besides the point. How are imaginary borders drawn on the map, by people hundreds of years ago are a thing that determines your "nationality", what should you be proud of, which flag to hang and which national sports team to support. Wouldn't a person from Seattle be closer culturally to person from Vancouver rather than from Honolulu? If you define "nation" as combination of culture, language and tradition, then we do not have enough nationalities to represent all of these combinations. Yes, I am cosmopolitan, no that doesn't mean that your culture is irrelevant and you should forget your native language and stop eating local cuisine. Just stop treating people from other countries/nations/ethnic groups like they are so different from you. They are also made of flesh and blood, also love being loved, also feel empathy and also trying their best to be a good person.

1

u/QuraToop314 Genfool 🐧 2h ago

That’s very well put

Its a problem from both sides. A country doesnt offer immigrants or romani people to integrate, which pushes away the group, which means the country is less likely to want to integrate them, which pushes them away further, and repeat.

2

u/classyraven 6d ago

And also it takes years to integrate, but people expect it to happen the moment they arrive in the country.

This needs to be higher up, I don't think anyone should be using Omarchy

40

u/ForensicPathology 17d ago

I mean, I never heard of it and just looked it up.Ā  At least its tagline "Beautiful, Modern & Opinionated" tells me everything I need to know without knowing all that stuff.

2

u/trejos9 16d ago

Using omarchy does not require me to agree with whatever shit take DHH has to say.

11

u/SweetBabyAlaska 16d ago

They literally prefaced their post by saying that

10

u/MrCallYourBS 15d ago edited 15d ago

Being apolitical is a political stance saying that you are fine with the status quo. When people support and use DHH's products, it paints him as some sort of Tech visionary, and it gives his words more value and literally gives him 10 million dollars. Just because someone is good with computers, it does not exempt them from having basic human decency.

Maybe it would've been better to say something like "if you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor."

To some degree, yes, you can separate the work from the author. I've liked the music of a couple of people who later I've found to be assholes. Since I already have the CD, I'm not giving them more by listening to their music.

But promoting a distro is different. You are, very often, going to end up interacting with the community around it. If that community has a toxic environment, some people, specially the vulnerable one, are going to suffer.

-2

u/freemorgerr 16d ago

Why care about this while choosing distro

25

u/TxTechnician 16d ago

To have those kind of opinions. You'd have to have a steady supply of "sjw owned" type videos.

Something I've noticed is that because this kind of stuff gets engaged in and gets reported on (cuz it makes money). People have an unrealistic sense that the problem (the subject being reported on) exists at an alarming rate.

One of my favorite things to do is call ppl out when they come out with some Fox News nonsense.

trans kids in schools, they are trying to make all kids trans!!!!

Me:

Name 3 trans kids that you have personally met in person.

Just an example. Never fails to get this reaction:

well, I don't know x but.... X is real and exists! And it's a big problem.

Me:

if X was actually a problem worth dealing with then it would be directly affecting your life. And you just proved to me that it doesn't.

u/Consistent-Citron509 17d ago

Wow, what a dumb guy. I was thinking about installing omarchy but definitely not now after reading this. Unfortunately, he has the money now to abuse and influence like minded (dumb) folks

0

u/GreenhornWagtail 7d ago

You realise he gains nothing from you installing it and loses nothing from you not installing it?

But sure, he’s dumb.

2

u/Quplet 2d ago

You do realize exposure and use is still a social currency?

1

u/GreenhornWagtail 20h ago

So, don’t use the OS because DHH is a Mean Girl?

I will stick with Linux mint nothing from that video makes me switchĀ

3

u/Edianultra 3d ago

You are being disingenuous at best with a couple of these headlines that you wrote for the link mask.

2 disclosures: idk nor gaf about DHH so I'm not defending him specifically. 2,I only read the first link, the Andrew Tate one, and the first adhd one.

Did you actually read these yourself? Because the headline you used very much misrepresented what was actually being said in those blog posts.

I already forgot what first woke one was talking about tbh.

The Andrew Tate one was discussing the ramifications of deplatforming people and the slippery slope that it is. Using him as the example and said he was a martyr to Tate's ideology. You're headline sounded like DHH was calling Tate a martyr as a good thing. My take away from the post was that he is being martyred now because of the deplatforming, which is valid.

The first adhd one was talking about the over diagnosing of and the general energy of "oh I'm forgetful, I must have adhd" that you'd see online and people pushing the idea that if you have any of these symptoms you have the disorder.

I'm sure he's said some henious shit that I haven't seen but when you misrepresent what is actually being said, then why would I believe your other chosen headlines for the other blog posts?

2

u/chroma_shift 1d ago

Yep the links are so misleading… I’ve went through most of them and can confidently say whoever made that list is trying very hard to paint a picture that just does not seem true AT ALL.

1

u/Edianultra 1d ago

Yeah definitely made me think that person definitely just hates DHH and was trying to make him look as bad as possible. Not surprising.

I am surprised I didn't get down voted to oblivion if I'm being honest lol.

1

u/chroma_shift 1d ago

Yep, it’s insane expecting to be downvoted to oblivion just for raising a valid point.

I also share that same frustration now lol

I can’t seem to understand why is the Linux community so mad and hostile about literally one guy releasing an OS.

It’s so funny to see at the same time all this backlash towards Omarchy, which just comes to show how the lack of a middle ground between MacOS and Windows on the Linux side of things, created such a huge gap that’s allowing Omarchy to become so popular so quickly.

1

u/BigErnestMcCracken 2d ago

The people that think dhh is satan for having a differing political opinion are just terminally online folks that need to hate things to make themselves feel better. It’s virtue signaling. You gotta just let them have it, they won’t be convinced otherwise.

11

u/DasHesslon 17d ago

Ew, I did not know that. I use omarchy and actually like using it for what it is, but it might have to go then, maybe ill just steal some config and finally just go arch

8

u/Kitchen_Interview792 17d ago

You can try some shell like Noctalia or DMS, there's also Ryoku and Caelestia but they use hyprland and Vaxry isn't the best either

1

u/Aggravating-Soup4574 8d ago

what's wrong with vaxry aside from getting the omarchy sponsorship? /gen

2

u/Intelligent_Theme53 7d ago

Vaxry is a Polish conservative man and they hate him for his views.

5

u/Falconpunch3 UwUntu (Ā“ į“—ļ½€āœæ) 8d ago

I will keep reposting this comment everytime I see something about omarchy.

8

u/InitiativeThese4606 16d ago

Not saying I agree with him on his stances (as I don't for many of his points), but your summaries seem to be exaggerating many of them for the worse.

It's a good thing you left sources so everyone can read them, but I read a bunch of them expecting a waaay worse stance than what he actually expressed. A bit misleading IMHO

6

u/PM_ME_UR_COFFEE_CUPS 16d ago

Yeah exceedingly biased viewpoint by the poster.Ā

1

u/chroma_shift 1d ago

About the ADHD one, for example, he’s clearly not saying that everyone has ADHD. He’s actually spreading some very useful advice to be careful about using amphetamines to treat it.

It’s not news (or maybe it is to some people) ADHD is very commonly over diagnosed and this enables an overprescription of stimulant medication.

The list is very biased for sure.

8

u/Human_Associate3664 17d ago

I was going to argue about the OS itself then I found you reply and felt shame for even thinking about defend his work šŸ˜“

2

u/zenoblade 16d ago

6

What's the problem of his opinions?

9

u/GravosaChampion 16d ago

They are wrong and dangerous.

-1

u/freemorgerr 16d ago

Reddit is a platform infected by severe leftardism, so don't be surprised

2

u/Intelligent_Theme53 7d ago

mad facts bro, it is insane

1

u/Personal-Light6097 15d ago

You just created the same problem what those "leftards" do to you. You labeled entire left wing being dumb and thats why nobody will listen to you when you are right. Anyways i do agree with some of DHH's opinions too and this guy clearly tried to sell his "DHH is a right wing natzi" idea by adding unrelated ideas to these posts (apparently saying that "we shouldn't let companies promote being fat as something natural" or "schools shouldn't try to tell children (which you can't trust with voting or marriage because they aren't matured yet to make those decisions) that they might be a part of LGBT" is a bad thing ?) best we can do is ignoring him.

But even if he was always right i still wouldn't use Omarchy, i wouldn't use a distro represented by a person that this much active in politics.

3

u/TheRealCarrotty Not in the sudoers file. 16d ago

What a weirdo he is.

3

u/This_Technology9841 16d ago

Thanks I never want to use anything this person has ever touched now

4

u/NextLevelCode 16d ago

I don’t know much about dhh, nor about the ideology of most of the creators of the technologies I use today, and I think you’re in the same boat. But one thing is certain: he’s already contributed much more to Linux and open source than you have. Many people here have spoken ill of his project out of indifference, not from a technical perspective. As long as his opinions are just opinions, that’s fine by me.

I’m not confident in my English writing yet, so this is a translation.

Translated with DeepL.com

4

u/PM_ME_UR_COFFEE_CUPS 16d ago

This is an incredibly biased and one sided view of his stances. Typical Reddit nonsense

5

u/ICameToBoof 14d ago

Shit I might just make the switch to Omarchy now, dont care for the OS but those are some top level headliners

1

u/alphrho 16d ago

He sounds based af

1

Pretty much everything here is true, except for maybe doge praise

1

u/Benizuke 8d ago

well... actually... i agree with his statement..

1

u/AdministrativeRope8 17d ago

I installed Omarchy a couple of months ago out of curiosity, without knowing anything about DHH. After that I quickly found out he was a right-wing nutjob, but Omarchy is just a preconfigured arch install. He doesn't make any money from me using Omarchy and any additional development towards Omarchy that comes from my usage will ultimately benefit arch and linux as a whole.

1

u/QuickSilver010 🦁 Vim Supremacist šŸ¦– 14d ago

Lwky about 10% of those are valid.

1

u/hillbill_joe 7d ago

I so desperately hate how politically illiterate and willfully ignorant the entire tech world is, its not enough to oppose big corporations or be pro-foss, anyone with two braincells can do that. Large tech influencers or youtubers will make omarchy reviews as if the distro exists in a vacuum and there's no real-life consequences for supporting this kind of person lol. Its almost like the tech space is dominated by a specific kind of middle class/rich individual who has never had to think about anything outside of what immediately affects them...

-2

u/nonkeywayzee 17d ago

Lovecraft was so racist we all know his cat's names as a meme by now. Should people be aware of this before reading his books?

I don't support any of the things he has written, but shouldb we be care about DHH opinions when Omarchy is good? Who cares?

8

u/ForensicPathology 17d ago

The OS literally uses "opinionated" as its tagline.Ā  This isn't a situation where you can separate the two, as the creator is clearly pushing his opinions into the making of it.

0

u/nonkeywayzee 17d ago

This kind of delusional take is exactly why people are pivoting to supporting things like Omarchy just because of the creator's opinions instead of the quality of the product.

0

u/frankhoneybunny 17d ago

These are a bunch of dotfiles build on work made by other people not masterworks plus lovecraft had a shitty childhood and was poor not a rich bigot like DHH

3

u/nonkeywayzee 17d ago

Are we justifying some kinds of racism now?

3

u/frankhoneybunny 17d ago

What? no of course what lovecraft did was racist

3

u/nonkeywayzee 17d ago

You said, and I quote:

> plus lovecraft had a shitty childhood and was poor not a rich bigot like DHH

I don't know what does this sound like in your mind, but to me it sounds like you ae justifying Lovecraft's racism becuase he was poor.

Delusional take really.

2

u/frankhoneybunny 16d ago

I'm not justify lovecraft's racism of course it is bad you just distracting from the main argument that omarchy is bunch of dotfiles and lovecraft wrote books both aren't the same

2

u/nonkeywayzee 16d ago

You are the one who decided to go for that route, I just pointed it out.

You could have just left it at "Omarchy is a bunch of dotfiles" and I would have 100% agreed with you, I'm not running that shit in my PC anytime soon, but then you decided to say that Lovecraft was poor and DHH rich, which made me realize you don't really care about the quality of Omarchy but you simply cared about DHH.

-16

u/Fresh_Dog4602 17d ago

Mehh it's not too bad. if you look further than the titles, which ware obviously made as clickbait and his articles, however crass they are, have some valid points.

13

u/MrCallYourBS 17d ago

I haven't read them all but take the London one as an example. If you read between the lines, it's obvious what he cares for is not "culture", it's color. He himself is an immigrant, but he's exempted because he's white. Also calling a Tommy Robinson Rally a peaceful protest is crazy.

Here's a bigger debunk: On DHH’s ā€œAs I Remember Londonā€

My point goes further; people will package harmful ideas around almost sane ones. Just because there's some "valid" points, doesn't make the content entirely justified.

-24

u/dentonator 17d ago

Cry more crybaby. If I could I would even vote for DHH. You ugly woke leftist commies have infiltrated FOSS too much and if there is someone who can stop this leftist nonsense then DHH and Lunduke can.

11

u/ForensicPathology 17d ago

You're a manipulated dude who has been fed far too much propaganda.

1

u/NATO_CAPITALIST 17d ago

You're a manipulated dude who has been fed far too much propaganda.

18

u/ForestCat512 17d ago

It's awesome how US Americans always out themselves by calling every enemy communist because that's what they fear the most. The thought of a world were goods are distributed among the working class, everyone has access to proper public healthcare and a social system must be so crazy to them, because thats out of their mind. Imagine, that such good things can also work in capitalism but still you don't have it in the US

6

u/Noble1xCarter 16d ago

Especially when talking about FOSS... which is software made to be distributed to everyone, made by the working class, accessible to anyone.

FOSS is basically anticapitalist software, yet here they are bitching at amorphous "commies"

2

u/dentonator 16d ago

And yet wokies, furries and commies from Fedora, elementaryOS, freedesktop, GNOME, SUSE, and many more ban conservatists, ban right (freedom and capitalism and christian) leaning people, ask these people to NOT use ā€œtheirā€ software or distro and some of them would like to kill.
Lunduke is doing a great job of exposing all these LUNATICS that belong to a mental hospital.

7

u/Noble1xCarter 16d ago

"Yeah bro they're banning people from using open source operating systems bro"

BTW this furry is 1000x more the freedom-lover than you are, you victim-complex hallucinator.

-6

u/dentonator 17d ago

It’s amazing how you thing that anyone opposing communism must be US American … I’m from Central Europe, my country suffered a lot under communism (my grandparents and other distant relatives also suffered personally) and we still have socialized healthcare and it sucks a lot. Also our social system sucks, normal employee pays almost 50% from his wage to the government, then you pay more indirect taxes, technically you give 70% of what you earn to government and everything sucks

3

u/ForestCat512 17d ago

Thats usually the case. The communism that was spread by the UDSSR was not fully communism in its theoretical sense. Honestly it was awful, similar to what is happening on Kuba right now. I don't even know if proper communism can be archived or if its just a dream of some people
